Our Journey back to Homesteading

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others."
-- 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

New Goats Coming and the Fleshman’s

We had the outstanding pleasure of meeting a very wonderful family up in Guthrie, OK. The Fleshman Family. You can see a lot about the Fleshman’s at their website Grace Family Farm.

The great news is that they have 3 doelings freshly weened. We were also extremely lucky that they were willing to board them for us for the next 30 days while we finish construction of our pens.

We went and met the whole family which was an amazing experience. Here we thought we were the only odd balls in Oklahoma, and here was a family that had several similar views. Living naturally, living off the land, money isn’t everything, striving for a strong relationship with God, all similar traits to our family that we are just starting.

I know I hope to stay in touch with the Fleshman’s so that our family can learn and grow from them. It was a blessing to meet them, and I hope we end up being close friends.

I didn’t grab pictures of the doelings while I was there however they were extremely friendly and very lively. I do have a few pictures of the Dam’s and the Sire for them. As soon as we can pick them up we will get pictures up. Take a look at the parents below, and stay tuned for pictures as we build the paddock and goat shed.

Update

Cynthia visited our humble little blog and noticed I didn’t have the pictures for the kids, so she emailed them to me. They are added to the gallery below and marked in the captions.
