Our Journey back to Homesteading

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others."
-- 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

A Few of the more Fun Projects this week

This week I was pretty beat up from moving concrete and digging holes. My mother-in-law helped with the concrete, and Ashley did what she could but being pregnant kept her from helping with any lifting.

So most of the week I spent looking for a few lighter duty projects. I still needed to keep up on the work so I managed to find a few things to do.

The first project was to change out the tires on the golf cart. One tire had gone flat, and driving it around the farm is a bad idea when it’s stock. A stock golf cart is really low to the ground and driving around the farm on less than level ground is not idea. So we went ahead and added a 6″ lift kit and increased the tire size from 18 inches to 22 inches. The golf cart looks a lot tougher now. The tires are 8 ply off road tires to they will be less likely to incur any damage either.

The second project was installing a clothesline. With Mason on the way we planned on using cloth diapers. Not all the time but most of the time while we are at the house. As you may have seen we installed a diaper sprayer for the toilet also. Now the reason we have a clothesline isn’t just for the eco friendliness or the ability to dry clothes when there is no power. But you might already know that the best method to kill bacteria is UV, and you might also know that the most powerful UV bulb is the big yellow ball in the sky. So that’s our plan, air dry the diapers to keep Mason’s butt nice and healthy 🙂
