Our Journey back to Homesteading

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others."
-- 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

Breakfast this morning was homegrown

I’ve been waiting some time now to see if our chickens were ever going to start laying. They are just over 5 months old now, but I figured with the cold weather and decreased sunlight, they came to age in the time they would normally be molting. So I knew it would be a little longer.

Well Saturday morning I went down to check on the chickens and when I inspected the coop I noticed in the bedding was an egg. And as I looked around I saw another, and another. 8 in total.

And I never got the nesting boxes finished. Darn it. Time to hustle.

In the meantime breakfast this morning was delicious. Homegrown eggs straight out of our own backyard. You can’t beat that. It’s all coming together, the hard work is paying off.
