Our Journey back to Homesteading

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others."
-- 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

Breaking Ground on the Chicken Coop

Finally breaking ground on the chicken coops. We’ve had a lot of set backs but overall it’s been working well in the end. These first 4 posts are the 4 corners it took us all weekend, but of course that’s including the time it took to get supplies as well as the fact that it is 100 degree weather. It’s tough to get things done when it’s that hot.

Update: The very next day I spent 2 hours out there and dug 6 more holes. With the lines laid out and everything planned it is going much faster. The plans are to hopefully get the posts finished for this weekend so we can start decking and building the coop. Rain permitting of course.

4 posts set and ready

Here is a view from coop to the house. It’s a long way but it’s closer to the planned location of our new house.
